Chairman's Pitch

Welcome to the Yorkshire Region web site.

I was honoured to be elected again as your Region Chairman at the AGM, which took place on the 10th May 2008. My wife Linda and I have camped with a few of the DA’s and Section’s already and we hope to meet many more of the members in due course

We have met and talked to lots of people on the club stand at the four shows we have helped on and it is true, we are the friendly club. It is very rewarding to make new members and friends at these events.

The Chairman’s Charity Macmillan Support has proved to be very popular and currently has raised over a thousand pounds, I would like to say a big thank you to everyone that has supported me with this great cause; please continue to give it your support.

Macmillan Nurses are specialists in supporting patients and families facing illnesses such as cancer. They work as part of the health care team to ensure that the quality of life for patients and families is enhanced. Therefore they are complementary to existing services. They are specially trained to offer advice on pain and symptom control, and also offer emotional support for the patient and family within their own homes. Not all patients with cancer need a Macmillan Nurse and it is usually the case that the General Practitioner or District Nurse has asked the Macmillan Nurse to meet the patient and family.

I would like to thank all the DA’s and Sections for their hard work in making this Region of ours one to be proud of, especially the Yorkshire Region Youth, and a big thank you to all the members who have given their time to steward a Meet or THS so that others can enjoy themselves.
