Chairman's Pitch

History

Chairman’s Chat.

Well autumn is already upon us and it’s time to reflect on the events of a typical British summer.

All the Region’s THSs are now finished and I am happy to say have been very successful. I would like to say a big thank you to the Region Councillors who arrange these meets and even bigger thanks to our holiday stewards for their hard work and commitment in running them for us.

While on the subject of THSs, we are consistently looking to bring in new people to join our team of holiday stewards. So if you are interested in making new friends and helping our Club, why not contact our Secretary Judith on 01132 383150, or Dave our THS Secretary on 07889 486881. They will be only too pleased to give you a rundown of the benefits of being a Steward.
Since my last column Arlene and I have managed to attend and enjoy all the summer’s biggest meets as well as a few quiet ones.

Leeds DA with their 40th at Ripon Racecourse and Yorkshire DA with their centenary at Wigg Hill, should be complimented on staging 2 tremendous birthday meets. Both of them were great weekends and it was a great pleasure to be invited to them.

Of course the most important event of the year is the Yorkshire Region Meet and this year it was hosted for the first time ever, by our Youth Section. The meet was held at Carlton Towers and what a brilliant job they did. In spite of the cold weather everyone enjoyed themselves, the entertainment was first class, and the beer was very nice too... and very cheap!!!

Our RYLOs John & Jill organised everything superbly well, but they would be the first to say they could not have done it without the help and dedication of their YLs and the CCY themselves.
They really did us proud, so the pressure is on for the Region Council. As we have to organise it for 2011 as no DA or Section was willing to take up the baton. We will do our best to try to match up to the Youth, but it won’t be easy.

As the season draws to a close, we come to the DA and Section FOLs, their Halloweens, their Bonfire celebrations and then the New Year meets.
Wherever you are going, make sure you enjoy yourselves, and spare a thought for all the people who work so hard behind the scenes to make sure these meets go ahead.

We would have nowhere to go if it wasn’t for their devotion to the Club.

Happy Camping.

Brian & Arlene
