Chairman's
Pitch
The Region held a very successful Region Meet at the end of June with over 300 units enjoying a weekend of fun, games and entertainment. My thanks to all the volunteers involved in the organisation.
Also, my thanks to the wonderful volunteer stewards at our Temporary Holiday Sites held over the summer months and which have, once again, been well supported by members. The THS’s also help to raise funds for my chosen charity – The National Kidney Federation- by putting out collecting boxes, suggesting donations in exchange for the many books our members kindly donate. My sincere thanks for every penny raised.
Summer may be officially over according to the weather people, but there is still plenty of camping time available. British Summer Time (BST) lasts until 27th October, when the clocks change but many DA’s and Section Areas continue organising meets after that. For upcoming meets, check the Sites List on this web site or visit the DA and Section websites direct.
One event coming up soon is the Club’s AGM, which this year is being held near Glasgow but next year will be paying a visit to God’s Own County.
Happy Camping

September 2024
I was delighted to be elected as Yorkshire Region Chairman once again at our Annual General Meeting, held recently. As a change from previous years, we held the AGM in a marquee and we were joined by the Club Chairman Chris Chester for the proceedings. We also followed the meeting with a pig roast, some gateaux and some entertainment, opening this up to all campers at East Yorkshire DA’s THS at Stockton on the Forest, who were very kindly hosting us.
My chosen charity for the coming year will again be the National Kidney Federation and I am grateful for the generosity shown so far.
As I type this update, it is becoming increasingly difficult for camping activity due to the rather wet (to say the least) weather we have been having. I am hopeful that things will dry up a bit before our Region Meet towards the end of June. It is still not too late to book.
We are also still taking bookings for our Annual Dinner and Dance which this year is being held at Drax Sports and Social Club on Saturday 10th November. I hope to see a number of you there.
Happy camping.

Yorkshire Region Chairman
May 2024
As we approach the camping season, I am delighted to advise that there are a number of events planned throughout the year by the wonderful volunteers in our District Associations and Section Groups. With DA weekends, special events and numerous Temporary Holiday Sites, there is sure to be something to interest everybody. Arrangements for this year’s Region Meet are progressing well. This will once again be held at Grange Park, Wetherby from 27th to 30th June. Full details are available elsewhere on this website under ‘Weekend Meets’. Don’t miss out on a great weekend and the early booking discount.
Members are also invited to join EYDA at there Temporary Holiday Site, Sutton on the Forest in May where the Region will be holding their Annual General Meeting. All are welcome to attend and the Club Chairman will also be present to answer questions on behalf of the Club.
I can also confirm that our Region Dinner Dance will be taking place at Drax Power Station on the 9th November, with camping available for up to 3 nights. The Region Council have agreed to a £5 subsidy for this 4-course meal with wine, so why not put on your finery and join us for this season finale.
Happy Camping

February 2024
I am immensely proud and honoured to be selected as your Chairman for the coming year. My life, for nearly 40 years, has revolved around the Club and in particular the DA’s and Yorkshire Region. Both Pam and I have seen our own children grow up through the youth and now our grandchildren have experienced the great joy of camping with other young people in a safe and enjoyable environment.
We have met many friends along the way and enjoyed many memorable meets, including Yorkshire Region Meet, which this year will once again be held at Grange Park, Wetherby.
My chosen charity for the year will be the National Kidney Federation, run by kidney patients for kidney patients. This is something else I have been associated with for many years and which is close to my family.
Hopefully, I can help, support and guide the Region Council in its endeavours and our many active members throughout the Yorkshire Region. I look forward to the challenge and trust that you will all feel free to contact me at anytime to discuss matters related to camping.
